A woman in her 90s has had cash stolen from her as she walked through Redditch.

Police are hunting for the thief who approached the woman as she walked along Mount Pleasant.

The victim was walking along at around 5.10pm on Monday when the man approached her and offered to carry her bag.

He then reached into her bag, took a quantity of money from her purse and ran down the steps, which lead to Haresfield Road.

The man is described as being white, around 40 years old and 5ft 8in tall, of slim build with short dark hair. He was wearing navy trousers and a dark navy top with red patches on it.

Enquiries are currently ongoing but officers are keen for anyone who saw the incident, or who was in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.

The area was busy so they are also keen to speak to anyone who was driving and saw the incident.
