THE Redditch Local History Society is launching a major campaign to record the last 75 years of Redditch history.

The society is asking people to write down one or more memories of the town to include in its 2019 exhibition.

If possible, photos would be appreciated, but the society will find ones from its archives that matches the memory.

Society chairman and archivist Derek Coombes said: "We all have memories from our past. You may have been born and brought up in Redditch and have memories of your school days, your first job, what you did in your spare time, where you went shopping, a sport you played, or a team you supported and probably many more topics.

"You may have come to Redditch with your parents, to start a new job, to move near your family or perhaps to retire here, and you too have memories of Redditch in the past.”

He added: "If you can, type up your memory and send it to us electronically as an email or attachment to the email. Be sure to include your name, the year of the memory if possible and as much detail as as you can."

Memories should be about 250 to 500 words long and people are being encouraged to send in more than one.

The input will be displayed at Forge Mill in the exhibition later this year.
