THERE were many smiling faces across our county yesterday as the wait was over for A-level students collecting their results.
Their achievements should not be underestimated, their hard work not taken for granted. We often forget there is a big step from GCSE's into Sixth Form education, and then again for those choosing to study a degree.

There are a number of support agencies who can offer advice on the next step, including clearing or retakes. Make sure too to get advice from friends, family and teachers, and discuss all the options.
And then of course there is the option of a gap year because, as I suspect, the reality is how many people really know what they want to do with their life at 18.
So for those who are happy with the results enjoy the plaudits.
And for those not so happy, remember to keep positive and everything in perspective.
