HEREFORD in Bloom's annual gardening competition has once again found the best gardens in Hereford.

Winners in four categories were chosen by judge Annabelle Pearson from a list of 30 entrants.

The winners of the Commercial Garden were Southbank House B&B, just off Aylestone Hill, while Wye Valley Brewery founder Peter Amor won City Garden for his garden just around the corner from Southbank House in Southbank Road.

The winners for Country Garden were Brenda and Ronald for their garden in Marden, while the Coningsby Hospital in Widemarsh Street won for Courtyard Garden.

Sponsored by Radway Bridge Garden Centre in Whitestone, the winner of each category won a £60 voucher to spend at the garden centre, with second and third place receiving £40 and £25 respectively.

The competition was judged on 14 criteria, including wildlife encouragement, colour scheme, range of plants and structure/layout.

It is part of the work Hereford in Bloom does in the city to promote gardening.

Prizes were handed out by Hereford in Bloom Chairman Kevin Knipe.
