RESIDENTS in a retirement settlement in Hanbury have blasted BT for having no landline since Sunday.
Residents of Courts Close bungalows in Hanbury, who rely on a landline due to poor mobile reception, say they have had no TV, phone, or internet since the heavy downpours brought down a telegraph pole.
The pole had been blocking the way in and out of the close meaning many of the people living there were unable to leave.
However, after being contacted by the Advertiser BT sent someone out and the pole has now been cut up.
But residents have said that is not good enough.
One local, Peggy Vinall, said there are a lot of elderly people living in the close including one in a mobility scooter, and a 95-year-old.
She said people are still annoyed.
"It's great that the pole has been shifted but we still have no internet, phone lines, or tv," said Peggy.
"We've been without a landline since Sunday - we rely on that here in case of an emergency as the mobile reception is so bad.
"We feel like we're all cut off, and have been forgotten about."
An Openreach spokesman said that they had cleared up the poll and they have knocked on all the doors to explain to people what happens next – which is that a new pole is on its way and hope to get the repair sorted in the next couple of days.
