WORCESTER'S Kitchen World has gone into liquidation after nearly 50 years in the city.

The family-run firm in Henwick Road was placed into voluntary liquidation last week and is currently hosting a closing down sale.

Hayley Sherwood, a company director, said: “Obviously, it’s been the hardest decision we’ve ever had to make, we have been going for 50 years.

"It’s not something we have taken lightly – we have been in the city a long time. It’s got to the point where it’s not possible to carry on.

"We understand we have upset a few customers, but we have done it the best way possible."

She said the decision was made two weeks ago and all stock is currently being sold off in part to attempt to pay back customer deposits.

Kitchen World Worcester Ltd was first established in 1974.

It has catered for homes in Worcester, Droitwich, Malvern, and Tewksbury as well as further afield across the West Midlands.

A small family run business, it's in its third generation with Ms Sherwood having taken over alongside brothers Mark and Gary Allen.

The business was first set up by the siblings' grandparents, as well as their father and uncles.

The liquidation process is being handled by insolvency firm Leonard Curtis which was unavailable for comment when contacted by the Worcester News.
