Who knows where the time goes?

Who indeed? But despite such existential uncertainty, The Julie July Band is set to return to Artrix in Bromsgrove, this October.

A spokesman said: “This is British Folk-Rock, and The Julie July Band has built a substantial reputation on reinterpretations and play a heartfelt tribute to the great singer-songwriter Sandy Denny.

“The band returns to Artrix on Saturday 19 October with a performance that celebrates Sandy Denny’s legacy.”

The spokesman added: “From dreamy acoustic melodies to driving progressive folk-rock, she was one of the UK’s singer songwriters of the British Folk-Rock movement.

“In her brief Career she left a legacy of beautiful, haunting original and traditional compositions.”

Richard Thompson called her ‘The greatest artist of her generation”. Melody maker readers twice voted her ‘Best British Female Singer” in 1970 and 1971.

Her most famous song “Who Knows Where the Time Goes?”, was voted favourite folk-track of all time by listeners of BBC Radio 2 and has been covered by many artists.

The spokesman added: “Now, 40 years on “The Julie July Band “perform a selection of her songs from: The Strawbs, Fotheringay, her Solo Career and Fairport Convention.

“Together with a selection of songs from their recently acclaimed Album “Lady of the First Light”. This is British Folk-Rock at its best!”

Tragically, Sandy Denny struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, headaches and largely unexplained falls, and she died following an apparent fall at the age of just 31.

Her death was recorded as “the result of a traumatic mid-brain haemorrhage and blunt force trauma to her head”.

Tickets to see The Julie July Band at Artrix on Saturday 19 October at 8pm are £15 each.
