A FUN day jam-packed with activities was held after a family's plea to raise money for a 5-year-old with leukaemia and other children like him.

The fun day held at Worcester Racecourse for the campaign Hand in Hand for Oscar, saw a bouncy castle, a cake sale, a toy stall, guess the teddy's name and other family activities.

Organiser Sarah Wurmli said: "It was just going to be a cake sale but then everyone wanted to get involved. The racecourse kindly let us have it here. It's stayed dry and it's been really busy."

Safe Haven Parrot and Animal Therapy Farm were at the event with some furry friends including Dutch rabbits for people to cuddle and a parrot named Hope.

Sainsbury's donated sweets for the sweet stall. Rock Choir performed some hits and there was a snow machine to give the day some wintery magic.

A set of goal posts were borrowed and children were offered the chance to win sweets if they got three goals.

The day was for Oscar Saxelby Lee, aged 5 who has been fighting leukaemia and needs specialist treatment in Singapore. The community has rallied around holding a plethora of fundraising efforts to raise the £500,000 needed. But Oscar's parents have asked for the fundraising to continue to fund vital research so other children with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia will benefit in future.

Oscar's parents said: “We are so grateful to the people of Worcestershire and beyond for making this possible. Please do not stop fundraising. We want Oscar’s story to help other children too."

"What we would love is to have enough funds that we can fund a piece of research into Oscar’s type of cancer in his name so he can help the many others that may find themselves in a similar situation. "
