THE latest quarterly report from the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce makes for worrying reading.
The report, based on the results of the chamber’s survey, showed that investment has stagnated in the last year, and that the number of businesses planning to increase capital expenditure has decreased by 28 per cent.
One of the reasons given in the report is the ongoing political uncertainty, particularly that around Brexit.
Whichever side of the Brexit argument you are on, the figures in the report are cause for concern and this will only continue while the situation remains unresolved.
Businesses hate uncertainty, not knowing whether to invest or not leaves them in limbo and means stagnation, which can have devastating effects on the economy.
This could have a profound impact on the lives of the people of Worcestershire, as their livelihoods depend entirely on the success, or otherwise, of the businesses they work for.
One way or another, we need to resolve this.
