A GROUP based in Bishops Castle that looks to encourage regeneration in south Shropshire is strengthening its leadership.

Enterprise South West Shropshire is a social enterprise devoted to economic and social regeneration based at Enterprise House in Bishops Castle.

Its Board members are volunteers from across the area and represent a wide range of commercial and community interests.

After many years of service, Vice Chair John Crowe, from Lydbury North, has stood down due to increasing other commitment although he will remain on the Board.

‘We are sorry that John has had to relinquish the Chair,” said company chairman Peter Phillips, who is a former senior Liberal Democrat on Shropshire Council.

“He has been a very active supporter for a long time.

“We are very lucky that Tim Russell has agreed to be our vice chairman.

“He has demonstrated tremendous enthusiasm for the work of the company and, I would say, has injected a new energy into the board.”

Mr Russell is a businessman from Clun.

“I have been really impressed by the work that has been done in the South West Shropshire communities,” he said.

“Key supporters, not least Shropshire Council, have certainly recognised its value. I am delighted that the Board has elected me.”
