CITY council leader Marc Bayliss has missed out on being MP for Sheffield South East, a constituency which is 120 miles away.
He was the prospective Parliamentary candidate for the Conservative party.
He achieved 15,070 votes, while Clive Betts for Labour, managed 19,359, to hold the seat.
However, Cllr Bayliss may be pleased that he was able to increase the Conservative share of the vote by more than four percent.
Cllr Bayliss launched a new Twitter account at the beginning of November and kicked off his campaign, saying he was “out and about in Darnall” alongside a photo.
Others trying to get the South East Sheffield seat were Lib Dem Rajin Chowdhury, Brexit Party’s Kirk Kus and Yorkshire Party’s Alex Martin.
