NOBODY really wanted to work at Christmas, but many council staff gave up time with their families to keep doing the day job.

The chief executive of Worcestershire County Council has recognised their efforts and thanked staff who were working or ready to be called out at a moment’s notice.

In Worcestershire, hundreds of social workers and social care staff continued to make their calls and ensure those who are vulnerable continued to get the care and support they need.

Social work teams, plus safeguarding, mental health, young adults and learning disability urgent care, were available to offer urgent help and assistance to those who needed it over the Christmas period.

More than 30 Highways staff were working, or on standby this Christmas and New Year period ready to head out in all weathers when needed.
