THERE will be no Race for Life in Herefordshire this year because the charity which organises the events has said it wouldn't be cost-effective enough.
Last year saw more than 1,000 people take part in the 5k and 10k runs at Hereford Leisure Centre, raising thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.
But now, keen Herefordshire runners will have to travel much further afield to participate in the annual event.
Kimberley Degville, Cancer Research UK's event manager for Worcester Race for Life, said: "Unfortunately, we have had to make the decision to not go ahead with the Hereford Race for Life in 2020.
"We have a responsibility to our supporters to ensure that we are contributing as much funding as possible to our life-saving research through every event that we offer and it is with regret that we do not feel this event will be cost-effective enough.
"We are extremely sorry for any disappointment this may cause, but hope you understand our reasons."
The nearest event for many Herefordshire runners this year will be at Worcester Racecourse on July 19.
