A TEENAGE girl is set to receive a life-saving heart transplant today.
Anna Hadley, of Red Hill, was diagnosed with a rare condition after collapsing at her school, Nunnery Wood High School, during PE in November 2017.
The aspiring hockey player from Worcester had just been picked to play for the county when she was diagnosed with restrictive cardiomyopathy and Long QT syndrome.
A Facebook status was posted by Team Anna #HockeyHeart, which is a social media page run by Anna’s family. It said: “This strong girl is about to go down to surgery between now and six O'clock.
“Anna wanted to send her love to everybody. #thinkingofourdonor
“Bye-bye restrictive cardiomyopathy.”
The family received the life—changing phone call at 3am this morning and announced that Anna would be receiving her new heart.
The post said: “Planned around early afternoon if all is OK. Please pray. Positive vibes.”
