ANYBODY who has spent any amount of time stuck in a car trying to weave their way through Worcester city centre will no doubt be rejoicing at the news that one of the city's most complained about zebra crossings will soon have a lovely set of traffic lights installed.

The crossing near Asda in Pheasant Street has been the subject of many a commuter's diatribe over the years and the latest work is part of the county council's plan to cut congestion in the city.

The work is very much welcome and hopefully it will be a huge success in trying to ease some of the pressure on our roads, particularly during peak times.

Cllr Alan Amos has said he has made it his mission to cut congestion in Worcester and the rest of the county and the new signals in Pheasant Street are what the people have constantly called for.

As the county council and the Worcester News mailbags can attest, the crossing, and the congestion, is one of the city's most maddening.

Hopefully this work proves to be a great success and does a lot to ease the frustrations and blood pressure of some of the city's drivers.
