PLANS to demolish a GP surgery which closed over patient safety fears and build new homes in its place have been submitted.

Millstream Surgery in Batchley was constructed in 1993, and operated as such until 2018, when the The Care Quality Commission (CQC) issued court proceedings to close the facility on the grounds of patient safety.

The court upheld their case and the CQC closed Millstream with immediate effect, while operating Woodrow Medical Centre with temporary staff.

The CQC were unable to find other professionals of practises willing to take over the running of either surgery and advised patients to find alternative doctor surgeries in the area, resulting in both Millstream and Woodrow surgeries being permanently closed.

Plans have been put forward to demolish the disused surgery and build six new two and a half storey semi-detached homes, with parking.
