PUPILS and staff from Witton Middle School in Droitwich have taken part in VE Day celebrations.

The school has been open to children of key workers and vulnerable children every day during the coronavirus pandemic.

Headteacher Suzie Bourne said: β€œIt's so important to share with children the significance of VE Day.

"They have really welcomed the opportunity to pause and reflect upon the past and to draw from it important considerations for our future.”

Those children in school have taken part in historical research, themed artwork, discussions about heroes past and present and enjoyed a socially distanced picnic lunch.

Children and families working from home have also joined in through a range of online learning resources.
