A ‘SNAKE’ made of painted stones has appeared in a village.

A sign on a lamppost next to the snake said: “Covid-19 snake - please add your decorated stones let’s see how long we can make the snake.”

Kempsey resident Nikki Hoskins said: “We started the Kempsey COVID-19 snake and my family loves painting rocks.

“These snake rocks are going on all other the country and my family thought what a great idea to bring the village together and put a smile on people’s faces as they are out on their daily exercise.

“We have always hidden rocks around the village but this was something a little different.”

A church is also lifting spirits in the village by helping vulnerable members of the community amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Mark Badger, rector of Kempsey & Severn Stoke w Croome d’Abitot, said: “Before we went into lockdown, I was able to call a meeting with our local councillors to propose a support network.

“Our parish team has also set up a system of welfare calls, with eight of us making around 250 calls each week.

Volunteers also delivering food parcels to many residents who cannot get to the shops.

Even though lock there has been an easing of lockdown measures, it is still uncertain when restrictions will be lifted completely and measures could still be in place going into next year.
