The travel industry has completely transformed during lockdown leaving many people confused about whether or not they can travel abroad.

Even if you do decide to book, your holiday could be cancelled at any minute if cases of coronavirus spike in the area.

However, have you ever considered a staycation in Worcester?

You would be surprised at just how many amazing places are right on your doorstep. After a weekend exploring nearby monuments and beaches, you will no longer be craving a holiday away.

If you’re not going on a summer holiday this year, there here are some ways you can recreate your foreign holiday in Worcestershire.

Go to the beach

Relaxing on the beach, with a book in hand, is an essential part of many people’s holiday.

However, Worcester itself is landlocked and the nearest beaches are hours away.

Luckily, some man-made beaches are more practical to get to, including The Blue Lagoon Beach at Bosworth Water Park in Leicestershire.

This attraction was built in 2015, with golden sand to sunbathe on and water to paddle in.

You can even choose to camp here of you want to make a weekend of it- pitching prices start at £18.

Eat at an exotic restaurant

Eating out and trying some exotic food is a huge part of the holiday experience- and you can replicate it in Worcester.

For a taste of the Mediterranean, you have to visit The Olive Branch Mediterranean Bistro and Wine Bar.

They were voted Worcestershire's Best Independent Restaurant two years in a row and specialise in tapas and seafood dishes.

Some people use their holiday to explore the culture and monuments in the area- you can do the same in Worcester.

It’s a very cultural and vibrant city- the Worcester Cathedral and Swan Theatre are just some of the notable attractions here.

It’s also home to some great hiking trails- The Laughern Brook Trail is ideal for kids, while the Malvern Hills is great for picturesque walks and niche picnic destinations.

Book some unique accommodation

You may be close to home but you can still book some unique accommodation to stay in Worcester.

There are some great glamping hotspots right on your doorstep, including Ockeridge Rural Retreats which has accommodation for families and couples alike.

If glamping isn’t for you, you could always opt for a quirky air bnb accommodation, like this treehouse in Grafton Flyford which can house two guests. Prices start from around £80 per night.

You might not be able to enjoy a beer abroad, but there are still some excellent pubs in Worcester to visit.

You can visit some charming pubs in with a lot of character and history.

The Cardinal’s Hat Inn is regarded as one of the oldest pubs in Worcester, dating back as far as the 14th century- it should definitely be on your list if you haven’t visited already.

The Firefly is another notable mention, with one Trip Advisor user saying it has the aesthetic and ambience of an American bar.
