FLOOD barriers are now being taken down in Bewdley following the highest river levels in three years.
A field team from the Environment Agency are working to take down a temporary barrier today (Wednesday March 20) on Beales Corner, which was put in place on Sunday following an ongoing flood alert.
There is also a barrier on at Severnside which is expected to be taken down some time today and tomorrow.
The levels in Bewdley peaked at 3.9 m, and are expected to remain high until Thursday March 21.
The River Severn flooding was caused by persistent rainfall from Wales, triggering the Environment Agency to enforce the alert.
Yesterday (Tuesday March 19), Dave Throup, Environment Agency manager for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, said: "It's the highest level we have seen for about three years here, but nothing exceptional or out of the ordinary.
“We are protecting probably about 500 homes and businesses at the moment."
