CHILDREN at Burlish Park Primary School in Stourport are doing their bit to reduce plastic waste by reusing their non-recyclable rubbish to make 'eco-bricks'.

Pupils have been busy collecting their empty crisp packets and wrappers to fill two-litre plastic bottles, which can then be used in building projects as an alternative to traditional bricks.

Teacher and science leader Naomi Thomas said: "The project is extremely important to us as it is vital that children are aware of the environmental problems that we face today.

"We must be proactive in protecting our planet for ourselves and future generations."

The eco-bricks will be sent to a distribution centre in Southampton where they will be used to form eco-friendly buildings.
