A FAMILY-RUN furniture hire firm in Stourport has offered up its stock to kit out hospitals fighting coronavirus.

Dzine Furniture Hire International is putting its supply of sofas, chairs and tables to good use after being hit with cancellations due to the covid-19 outbreak.

The company, which is based in a warehouse in Severn Road, has already delivered furniture to Leighton Hospital in Cheshire and is now reaching out to NHS trusts and temporary coronavirus hospitals such as the NEC Nightingale to offer donations.

Betsy Vickery, managing director of Dzine, which has provided furniture to exhibitions, events, and hospitality sectors for 20 years, said: "We all have many friends and family members that are working tirelessly on the frontline and have been humbled by what they are doing and the effect it is having on them and their families.

"Although we do not have the skills needed to help medically, we feel strongly about offering any support and help we can in the fight against the coronavirus covid-19.

"Our own business has been hit hard by the cancellation of events across the UK and Europe since February.

"Our furniture is currently just sitting in our warehouse and we really want it to be put to good use.

"The entire company - from office staff, warehouse and our drivers - have all volunteered their time to support this initiative, which makes me immensely proud.”

Dzine is offering hospital trusts a complete delivery and set-up service for chairs, tables, waiting area furniture, office and boardroom furniture, illuminated mood furniture and logistics solutions.

Emma Robertson, charity manager for Mid-Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which received a furniture delivery from Dzine last week, said: “We were delighted to hear about Dzine Furniture and their services on offer and we contacted them straight away.

"They have enabled us to furnish a number of our staff areas where they can receive counselling and mental health support.

"Not only are they providing a range of sofas for each of the areas but also their bright stools, which are illuminated furniture with mood lighting to aid escapism and relaxation amongst all the stress and anxiety that they are dealing with on a daily basis.

"You don't realise how much this is really going to help our frontline staff.”
