A KITCHEN assistant at a Bewdley care home has braved the shave to raise money to bring some joy to elderly residents during lockdown.
Residents and colleagues at Summerdyne Nursing Home watched on Thursday as Nene Edge had her head shaved by the home's wellbeing and lifestyle co-ordinator Sarah, who dressed as a cheerleader for the occasion.
Nene was presented with a bouquet of flowers from staff when the job was done.
The shave was in aid of the home's residents fund and raised nearly £500 in donations.
Nene said: "It's been a long time for the residents during this lockdown and I want to do something sparkling for them - something nice to bring joy."
Nene has worked at Summerdyne for just over a year, and staff say she is a joy to have around the home.
Manager Paula Lees said: "Nene always comes to work radiating happiness and cheer, she has a wonderful uplifting outlook on life and is a joy to have in the home.
"Nene quite often treats us all to her delicious home-cooked delights and she is the type of person you just can't help being happy around."
