On October 5 the society was pleased to host a special evening meeting held at Christ Church, Lye when well known Midlands historian and broadcaster Dr Carl Chinn M.B.E. presented "An Evening with Carl Chinn."
Dr Chinn spoke with his characteristic enthusiasm about Birmingham and the Black Country, touching on subjects such as local dialects, industry and working class family life. The money raised was donated to the Macmillan Coffee Morning Fund.
Our October meeting was held on the 19th October and featured local historian Dr. Paul Collins with an illustrated talk entitled "Mills Along the Stour".
Our next meeting will be held on November 16 when local author Don Cochrane will present a talk entitled "Lye & Wollescote - Part 1" .
As usual this will be held at Wollescote Community Centre, Wassell Road, Wollescote at 2.30pm, admission will be £1 and light refreshments will be available.
