Having read Cllr Paul Brothwood’s article in the viewpoint page of the 19th March edition where he blames the last Labour government for what he says” brought the Country to its knees”.

I would expect better of Cllr Brothwood as he should know that the financial crisis of 2007 was brought on globally and it affected all banks across Europe and was in fact started by the big banks in America. Ex retired Bank of England governor Mervin King said no country could have foreseen and be to blame for the banking crisis in 2007.

Cllr Brothwood should remember that when the Labour government bailed out the banks, the Tory government agreed with them. If the banks hadn’t been bailed out, people who had savings in the banks would have lost all of their savings.

It was only when the run up to the 2010 general election came about that the Tories didn’t agree. I wonder why that was??

Your memory must be short Cllr Brothwood if you can’t remember that.
