THE adult social care team at Dudley Council are up for a national award for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.

The team has been selected as a finalist in the “Outstanding Response to COVID in Social Care” category at this year’s LaingBuisson Awards, following more than 400 submissions across all categories.

The awards recognise and celebrate industry excellence in the UK health and social care services within public, private and third sectors.

Team Dudley will find out if they have won at a high-profile socially-distanced ceremony and dinner held in central London on Thursday November 19.

Councillor Nicolas Barlow, cabinet member for health and adult social care, said: "We are absolutely delighted and over the moon to have been nominated for this award.

"I understand there were a record-breaking number of nominations so to make the final shortlist is really fantastic.

"It is national recognition for a team that has gone above and beyond to make sure the most vulnerable in our borough have been looked after and protected during the coronavirus crisis. Winning this award would be richly deserved."
