A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the shooting of two men found dead in a car on a Brierley Hill industrial estate.

The suspect was detained after a vehicle was stopped on Hunter Street in Carnforth, Lancashire, at around 11.30am today (Thursday October 1).

He was today being transported to a West Midlands Police force custody facilities for questioning about the shooting of two men whose bodies were found in a car parked off Moor Street at 3.30pm yesterday (Wednesday September 30).

The victims – aged in their late 20s/early 30s and who have not yet been formally identified – are believed to have been killed at the industrial estate shortly after 1pm.

The location of the killings remained sealed off today while forensic experts examine the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Munro, from the force homicide unit, said: “This is a fast moving investigation, a real team effort involving officers who’ve worked around the clock since the discovery of the bodies to trace the person we believe is responsible.

“The arrest is a significant development but our enquiries continue and I would appeal to anyone with information about what’s happened, or anyone who was in the area at the time and saw or heard anything suspicious, to get in touch.”

A post mortem examination is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Friday).
