Pupils from Pedmore Technology College and Community School, Ridgewood, Thorns and Redhill School converged on Himley Hall again this year to take part in the fifth annual TSET Olympics event.
The four Stourbridge schools, part of The Stourbridge Educational Trust (TSET) take part in many different sporting activities including lacrosse, mountain biking, climbing, tag rugby, tennis, volleyball, fencing, rounders, soft ball and golf, hosted in the Himley’s extensive grounds.

Stourbridge News:

More than 600 pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 competed in this massive inter-school event on Wednesday 11th June which was attended by the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Margaret Aston.  The Mayor awarded medals to the event winning teams.

Stourbridge News:

Lorraine Turner, Director of Communications at Pedmore said, “Pedmore Technology College co-ordinates the event on behalf of the TSET schools and pupils from all four schools thoroughly enjoy the day trying out new sports in friendly, competitive sessions with skilled coaches.

Stourbridge News:

New friendships and skills are gained along with helping the confidence and self-esteem of children who may not participate in the more traditional sports of offer in our schools.

Stourbridge News:

Although some of the sports featured appear to be a solo activity, the students compete school on school and as a result are exposed to competing as a team even in a “solitary” sport, similar to that of an Olympic team.

Stourbridge News:

We are passionate about the continuation and development of this sporting event and others like it as a legacy of London 2012 Olympic Games.”
