DESPERATE Dudley Sports were all set to play their first West Midlands League game since December this week when they were due to face Wednesfield.
But Sports’ hopes were dashed when they discovered the game was called off because Wednesfield were involved in a Birmingham Floodlit Cup game which took precedent.
Dismayed Sports joint boss Tony Gore claimed: “That just sums up the past 10 weeks! But we have to get on with things. At least we know the pitch does dry out quickly.”
Brierley Hill-based Sports will be hoping for better luck this Saturday when they entertain Wellington at Hillcrest Avenue. The following Tuesday they travel to Shawbury.
In the meantime Sports have boosted their ranks by bringing in 19-year-old Worcester City striker James Lemon on loan for the rest of the season.
Lemon has already had a previous spell out on loan with Midland Alliance side Stourport Swifts.
Sports have also added central defender James Padden who is currently studying at Worcester University.
