STUART Wedge took six wickets as Himley returned to winning ways against bottom placed Attock.

Himley bounced back after the previous weekend's disappointing defeat at Tamworth as captain Greg Wright's men bagged a five wicket win last Saturday.

After winning the toss and choosing to field, Attock were bowled out for 204. Sarmad Bhatti's 65 and a half century from Asim Khan boosted the visitors' total.

However, it was the work of Wedge that caught the eye as he mopped up the tail to finish on 6-77 from his 13 overs.

Sri Lankan star Nipun Karunanayake (86) and the returning Callum Lea (46 not out) then helped the home side to the points.

Wright was pleased with the way his players hit back.

He said: "I'm surprised looking at their side that they are where they are. It is definitely a false position for them.

"The rollercoaster continues for us and it's just good to get back to winning ways after the disappointment of the weekend before.

"We got the basics right and stuck in there to get the win. We knew it was a chaseable total and we got the job done."

On Wedge's contribution, he added: "It suits him coming in at the end when batsman start to take chances.

"He's relatively new to bowling spin but he's a wily bowler and though it wasn't his best spell, he deserved his luck. We took the catches and were happy with how we did in the field."

Wright again highlighted the class of Karunanayake and is targetting better consistency.

"The new ball is always tough at Himley but we saw that off well," he added. "Those of us in the top three would have liked to go on and get a bigger score but Nipun batted really well again and having Callum Lea back in the side also makes a difference.

"Our next big challenge now is to start stringing results together. We have bounced back but now need to back that up and find the consistency we've been lacking."

Himley will look to make it back-to-back wins when they go to second-from-bottom Wellington this Saturday (noon start).
