IT has been a mixed week of cup action for Lye Town after they headed out of the League Cup on Saturday at Boldmere St Michaels.

A Ben Billingham equaliser was not enough as Boldmere’s Rikardo Reid sealed the victory for the home side.

But Andy Wyton’s side were back at the Church Road pitch on Tuesday night where they dispatched Inkberrow 3-1 to make it through to the second round of the Smedley Crooke Memorial Charity Cup.

Two goals for Luke Carter and a Joshua McKenzie strike were enough to send their side into the next round of a competition which gives Town a real chance of silverware this season.

Lye continue their cup theme into this weekend when they host Bolehall Swifts in the FA Vase (3pm kick-off).
