OLD Halesonians' under-15 boys started the season on Sunday with a huge tournament win at Luctonians.

The team scored over 15 tries and remained undefeated in what was a fantastic afternoon of rugby.

Matthew Williams, Old Hales head coach has also undertaken the role of head coach of the under-15 boys this season.

He said: "We have been working really hard as a group of coaches and players to hit the season running and we played some really good rugby today. That goes down to how hard these lads are working in training and how much they are improving and challenging themselves.

"We are looking to add to this squad of players to take us up to a playing squad of 30, so if anyone would like to come and join these fantastic lads, we would love to have you.”

The Festival started at 11am and concluded at 3pm and Old Hales had to play against some very good clubs. Hereford and Luctonians were both in attendance and they two teams that could be considered among the strongest clubs in the North Midlands.

The team scored over 15 tries with more than 10 different players getting over to score in what was a great team performance. Some noticeable performances were seen from Captain Leo Ward, Vice Captain Morgan Rudge, Alex Hill, James Quinn and Jay Webster.

Leo Ward, Old Hales captain, said: "This was my first time being a captain and it was just amazing. I have great team mates and we played really well. We have some new players and we are all working so hard for each other. I loved it so much and am so happy we won today and we got a cup.”

Old Hales under-15s train on Wednesday nights starting at 6.30pm and Sundays starting at 100am. Interested new players can contact Matthew Williams on 07762410316.

Meanwhile, Old Hales firsts have started their season in Midlands One West in good form.

They have lost just one of their first five games and added to their total with last Saturday's 32-16 success at Stoke.

They are now sitting in third place ahead of this Saturday's derby clash with Stourbridge Lions at Wassell Grove.
