ALVECHURCH have added frontrunner Andre Landelle to their line up following his release from Southern League Central Premier rivals Rushall Olympic.

Church boss Ian Long admitted to being surprised at Landelle being let go by Rushall.

Long said: "Andre played really well against us and is just the type of player we were looking for.

"He can play anywhere across the front line, which is where we need to strengthen. The only issue will be Andre's fitness.

"He missed a fair bit of pre-season and has hardly featured for Rushall this season.

"Andre's had his injury problems as well, so that will be something we have to monitor".

Long was delighted to get back into winning ways with a 2-1 success at Barwell this week.

Goals from Josh March and Aaron Lloyd either side of half time put Church 2-0 in command before Eliot Putman pulled one back for the Leicestershire side.

Long added: "We had the better of first half exchanges but Barwell came back at us after the break and bombarded us with high balls into the box, but I was extremely pleased with the way we coped, because it was nip and tuck at times.

"It was important that we got something from the game following two defeats."

Church have climbed to eighth place as a result of this success and entertain 10th in the table St Ives Town at Lye Meadow this Saturday.

Ryan Winwood returns to the ranks following family commitments while Long will be looking to put his own experience with England C this week to good use.
