LYE Town were looking to complete a quick fire double over Coventry United but came unstuck when they were reduced to nine men in the second half.
Having beaten Coventry United 2-1 the previous Wednesday, Lye were confident of a repeat performance.
But after going 1-0 down Lye had both Liam Hughes and Luke Carter sent off and had to play the final 20 minutes with nine players.
Lye manager Andy Wyton bemoaned: "Coventry United only had one shot on target - and it went in. It was a really good goal to be fair!
"We contributed to our own downfall but it didn't help that we had the midfield trio of Ben Billingham, Joe Lawley and Jack Pearlman all missing for the game".
Lye had claimed the points in Coventry with Adam Meacham netting the winner with a half volley after Josh McKenzie had earlier levelled matters.
Busy Lye travel to Westfields this Saturday before taking on Walsall Wood in their Boxing Day fixture.
