"GUTTED" Worcester City fans have wished well George Forsyth ahead of his imminent move to Stourbridge.

The 22-year-old defender or midfielder, the subject of approaches from Walsall Wood, Gresley and Ilkeston Town already this season, has agreed a deal to jump up two levels with the promotion-chasing Glassboys.

Forsyth initially joined on loan from Gloucester City last season before penning permanent terms with Worcester going on to win the coveted Worcester News Player of the Season award.

Having caught the eye of a multitude of rival managers, he became the only player from City’s level or below to be called up by England C manager Paul Fairclough for an FA Select XI at Edgar Street, Hereford earlier this month.

Forsyth was offered a contract by City in the build-up to that game amid interest from Ilkeston but indicated he would wait until the summer before making a firm commitment for next season.

Stourbridge have been involved in a two-horse race with former Conference giants Kettering Town for the Southern League Premier Division Central title for most of the campaign but a recent dip in form has made the play-offs their most likely route into National North.

Forsyth made 66 appearances in blue and white, contributing 14 goals.

John Carey (via Facebook): "Gutted but well deserved, Foz. Outstanding for the City. Good luck mate."

Simon Copson (via Facebook): "Absolutely gutted to see you go Fozzy but you deserve to be playing at a higher level.

"Hope this is a springboard for you to get even higher up the pyramid and break into the professional ranks.

"All the best for the future."
