How they rated: Alvechurch 2, Stourbridge 1

Alvechurch:

Crane: Made a string of fine saves, especially to deny Mills and Benbow in the second half. 7.5.

Morrison: Solid showing and helped keep Stour’s dangermen quiet for large spells. 6.

Foster: Defended well, supported attacks where possible. Booked for giving away the Stour penalty at the end of the first half. 6.

Turton: Worked hard throughout and linked up well as Church came out strong in the second half. 6.

Willetts: Towering performance from the skipper. He and centre back partner Carter gave the Stour forwards no change all afternoon. His ball set up the equaliser. 7.5.

Carter: Superb display from the centre back. Defended well, composed on the ball and caused problems with a few forays forwards. 8.

Botfield: All-action display from the midfield man. Headed against the bar in the first half and test Wren with another effort. 7.

Tonks: The midfield battle was a niggly one and often free-kicks broke up the game’s momentum, particularly mid-way through the first half. He worked hard to get his foot in, caused problems with his long throws and drilled one effort well over the bar in the second half. 6.5.

Lloyd: Always a presence and won some good flick-ons early on but struggled to have a real impact. Easily marshalled by the Stour defenders and replaced at the break. 5.5.

Roberts: A big threat early on and then provided the finish after another well-timed run in the second half. Always a danger and offered Church an out ball with clever runs into the channels. 7.5.

March: Linked up well with Roberts, tested the Stour keeper early on and set-up the winner. 7.

Subs:

Landell: Changed the face of Church’s attack in the second half. Powerful and lively and showed good anticipation and bravery to net his side’s leveller. Was denied by a fine save after that and then had another ruled out for offside. Superb performance. 7.5.

Winwood: Worked hard to help Church see out the closing stages and secure their place in the final. 6.

Unused subs: Cook, Morrison, Price.

Stourbridge:

Wren: Made a number of impressive saves to keep his side in the game. Gathered well when required. Caught out by Alvechurch’s leveller as Landell beat him to the ball. 7.

Hayden: Strong showing from the full-back and also created a few opening when he ventured forward down the right. Tough afternoon as March and Roberts linked up well down his side. 6.5.

Brown: Did okay for large periods, was strong and composed. 6.

McCone: Won his headers but struggled against the lively Roberts. 6.

Pierpoint: His initial header led to Stour’s penalty opener but was then caught out by a simple ball over the top and got the wrong side of Landell for the home side’s equaliser. Had done well to that point but Stour struggled as a team after being pegged back. 6.

Forde: A tenacious as ever in the heart of midfield and had one driving run forward. 7.

Anderson: A few good runs from the right flank but didn’t have enough of an impact. 6.

Birch: Battled well in a compact midfield area where it was hard to show quality. 6.

Benbow: Had some moments of brilliance that were often denied by Crane. Did drift out of the game for long spells as service dried up. 7.

Thomspson-Brown: A few neat touches in good areas but didn’t offer enough as the game drifted away from the Glassboys. 6.

Mills: Converted the penalty for Stour’s opener and denied a second by Crane in the second half. Posed a threat in the final third but, like with Benbow, he didn’t see enough of the ball in the second half. 7.

Subs:

Broadhurst: Came on in midfield but didn’t have time to make an impact. 6.

Powell: A few good moments out on the right but couldn’t overcome the stubborn Church rearguard. 6.

Lilly: Offered fresh legs in attack, soon got involved but again couldn’t find a key contribution to change things. 6.

Unused subs: Christophorou, Evans.
