WORCESTER City Youth are strengthening their player pathway by reintroducing an under 21s team for the 2019-20 season.

The side will play on Saturdays in the new under 21 division being launched by the Total Motion Midland Football League where City’s first and reserves teams already play in their own competitions.

The team will be managed by Steve Humphrys, Dave Baker and Daren Mills who will also work with the under 18s team that has just completed a successful season by finishing Midland Floodlit Youth League runners-up.

The two sides along with the reserves, who will be under the stewardship of Neil Parton and Luca Gabriel, will create a pool of talented players the first team can draw upon.

“The plan is to have 30 players aged from 17 through to 21 who have the opportunity to push on for the first team from next season and in the years to come,” said Humphreys.

“The future is bright and we have some talented young players coming through, most of whom have come from the Worcester City Youth set-up and some have been with the club from under 11s.”

He added: “We’ve got a strong group but are still looking to add to the pool before the start of next season so any players interested in making the step up are welcome to get in touch.”
