STOURBRIDGE boss Ian Long says adding another striker is now his number one priority ahead of the new season.

The new Glassboys boss has already brought in Mike Taylor, Aaron Lloyd and Kieran Cook this summer and retained the services of goalscoring winger Greg Mills.

However, Long still wants more firepower as he looks to mount a Southern League Central promotion push.

The manager is tracking a host of targets as he prepares to welcome the players back for pre-season on Thursday.

He said: ""I'm really looking forward to getting back on the training pitch now and working with the players. That's what we all prefer and enjoy.

"I'm really happy with what we have now but would still love to add some more firepower.

"We want to get another centre forward in and have a number of irons in the fire. Hopefully something can happen.

"If we had to start the season with what we have then I'd be happy with that but it would be nice if we could get one more. That's my number one priority for transfers now."

Long says he's also been inundated with requests from players wanting to train with the team during pre-season.

He added: "We'll be having a look at a few players over the next few weeks who we've invited to join us for training.

"There is definitely a couple of squad places still up for grabs if they can impress.

"There have been loads that have asked if they can come down. We can't take them all but the interest has been there.

"We'll also have a few younger lads that have come through the youth set-up joining us too."
