Sedgley and Gornal United remain firmly in the hunt for Beacon Sunday league honours after firing a six goal charge this week.

The Tipton based outfit moved second in the top tier Concentric Sales and Lettings Beacon Championship after running out 6-2 winners at Codsall Station, writes Dave McLean.

It was three goals in each half for United who had Brad Lewis notching a hat trick. Helping to making it six of the best were Dale Astley (two) and Tom Timmins, with replies from Liam Davies and Chris Campbell.

United moved to within three points of fellow contenders and leaders Claregate Park Rangers 2nds and the former also have a game in hand.

Also very much in contention are third place Shere Punjab Wolves who have played two less than the table toppers and are five points adrift of Claregate.

Claregate made it two wins in their push for a place in the knockout semi final stages of the Wilkes Tranter Chell Cup after crushing FC Premier U21s 11-0.

It was double figures for Claregate after they had cracked no fewer than six first half goals.

Inflicting the damage were hat trick heroes Rodney Williams and Dan Lawrence along with a two from Ashley Brown and singles for Joe Prosser, Mark Thomas, Jordan Stevens and Are Beckford.

In the same competition Trysull Tigers gave their hopes of progressing a boost when emerging 3-1 victors at Beacon Lions, goals from Steve Rickhuss, Liam Lamby and Jake Cope.

In the four group qualifying Sports Shop Kingswinford Clinton Cup, CTS United and AFC Sporting Gornal second semi final spots.

The former emerged 3-0 winners at Health Direct as Luke Hickman (two) and Ashley Walker netted. There was also a brace from Owen Harris as Sporting Gornal edged home 2-1 at local rivals Gornal Rangers who replied through Liam Hall.

Three fixtures were contested in the Paycare Development Division and second place Wyrley Athletico ramped up their promotion push with a 4-2 away win at basement outfit Coseley FC who have now completed their league programme.

Leading the line superbly for Athletico was three goal Alex Stokes, with Will Meredith chipping in with the fourth to see off battling Coseley who responded through Dan Burns and Reece Chambers.

Third place Dudley Rangers United romped to a 6-0 home triumph over lowly Cannock United, thanks to Scott Fisher (three), George Cope (two) and Ty Charris.

FC Premier 2014 grabbed a first minute advantage through Jermelle Banner who went on to hit a double in a 5-3 home success against Sedgley Rangers.

Also on the mark for Premier were Aiden Cadman, Jamie Priddey and Dan Meredith, with Joe Waterfield, Luke Jones and an own goal replying.

In the Challenge Trophy 030s competition there were victories for AFC Dormston and Orton Vale over Wrottesley OB and AFC Bradmore respectively.

Danny Jones grabbed all three goals for Dormston in a 3-1 success, while Liam Illsley and Graham Shaw secured a 2-0 win for the Vale.
