- FULL-TIME: Worcester City 1 (Downes OG, 66) Coventry Sphinx 1 (Bryson, 28)
- Worcester City's search for a first league win of the season continued after a wasteful 1-1 draw with Coventry Sphinx at Claines Lane.
- The hosts dominated the game and even played against 10-men for 20 minutes after Sphinx's 'keeper Tom Cross was sent off following some unsavoury handbags, but they couldn't capitalise.
- The draw means City have taken just two points from their opening five league games and sit two places off the bottom of the MFL Premier Division.
- The first-half saw very little in terms of goalmouth action but it was the visitors who created the best chance.
- Captain Callum Woodward whipped in a pin-point set-piece delivery on the half-hour mark and James Bryson was on hand to glance it back across goal and into the far corner.
- City continued to control possession and territory but they failed to create anything worthy of note and they went into the break behind.
- Worcester returned from the dressing room with plenty of energy and inside the first few minutes they had created a chance for Ryan Winwood but 'keeper Tom cross was equal to his snapshot effort and pulled off a fine save.
- City equalised on the 66th minute through an unfortunate own-goal from Jack Downes, who flicked a header into his own net from a Tom Turton free-kick.
- The real moment of controversy came minutes later when it appeared as if Liam Lockett had been pushed in the face by Sphinx right-back Patsun Tufan.
- A big scuffle ensued and after about five minutes of deliberating by the officials, the referee brandished a red card to the Sphinx keeper, for what must have been his involvement in the handbags.
- Brsyon, the goal scorer, for Sphinx, was tasked with pulling on the gloves and despite City laying siege to the Coventry box, they could not force him into a noticeable save and the visitors held on for a draw.
