Just one fixture beat the elements as the remainder of this week's Beacon Sunday Football league programme was wiped out by the wintery conditions.

The only game to get the go ahead was the league flagship's NDT Lester Charity Cup second round clash between Wolverley-based Hagley United and visiting over-30s section outfit Shere Punjab Wolves Seniors, who showed the way with an excellent 5-1 triumph.

Paycare side Hagley were short on numbers for the start of this tie and club secretary Jason Hickman was even forced to put on his boots for the first time this campaign.

However, he and his team mates could not prevent Shere dominating long periods of the first period as the visitors raced into a 4-0 half time advantage.

Hagley managed to cut the deficit in the second half, through Chris Snelleksz, before Shere made it a worthy nap hand to secure a place in the last 16 of this season's competition.

The prize for Shere is a home third round clash against Dudley Rangers United, who have enjoyed a good start in the top tier Concentric Sales & Lettings Championship this season, having lost only once in eight matches.

Inflicting the damage on Hagley were the Shere quartet of Razman Akhtar (two), Amrik Sanghera, Wyra Mohammed and Manpreet Gaccha.
