SHREDDED Ducks were the elite champions in the inaugural Summer 7s at Sixways.

Ducks, who included former Warriors academy player Afeafe Lokotui in their squad, defeated Apache 7s 35-5 in the Elite final to take the crown at the end of a day of high-quality rugby.

Apache edged Gogs Raiders 19-17 and Ducks saw off SA Wild Dogs 27-12 in the semi-finals after a number of thrilling matches in the group stages.

Petelo All Stars took the open plate title with a 33-5 victory over Evesham Rangers in the final with Mavericks taking the social tournament crown with a 38-17 triumph against Scotty’s Rugby Men in the final.

The women’s competition was won by Worcester Blue who defeated Worcester Gold in the final.

The trophies were presented by ex-Warriors lock Craig Gillies and a day that rained tries was blessed with good weather.

Gillies said: “Thanks for inviting me along for the prize-giving Warriors after a cracking event! “Looking forward to seeing the competition grow and develop over the next few years.

“Well done to all the teams that took part and big congrats to the Shredded Ducks!”
