FLY-HALF Duncan Weir is set to undergo a scan on his jaw following Motu Matu’u's red-card tackle in Worcester Warriors’ 20-6 win over London Irish.

Director of rugby Alan Solomons reckoned Weir had “probably lost a couple of teeth” from the collision while there is also an injury concern over prop Nick Schonert who sustained a nasty gash to his head.

Weir was struck on the side of his face by Matu’u’s head seven minutes before the break.

The Exiles hooker was sent off by referee Ian Tempest who deemed the tackle to be “out of control” and felt there was a “high level of danger”.

Weir, who notched 13 points in the first-half including a try, stayed on the pitch until the 53rd minute when he was replaced by Jono Lance.

“Duncan has taken a blow to the jaw,” Solomons said.

“That was the particular incident that led to the red, but he is not comfortable at the moment.

“We will have to have a proper look at that and will probably have to get him X-rayed.

“He had his gum guard in, but he has probably lost a couple of teeth.

“Jono is a really good footballer and we are blessed to have the two of them.

“We have still got Shilly (Jamie Shillcock) and he is a very good full-back as well.”

Asked what he thought of Matu’u’s high tackle, Solomons said: “I didn’t see it so I will have to look at the film which I will start doing.”

Lock Graham Kitchener said Weir was “walking around” and “seemed OK” after the match.

“Duncan seems alright,” Kitchener said.

“He has obviously got a bit of a bump. I am not 100 per cent sure how he is but he was walking around and seemed OK.

“I hope he is alright.”

Schonert left the field for a head injury assessment just before half-time and did not return for the second half.

“It’s concussion so Nick will have to go through the protocol,” said Solomons whose side travels to Saracens next Saturday (3pm).

“That was very physical game of rugby.

“The breakdown was very physical and we have got to take cognises of that moving forward ebcuase “Saracens are a class team and are pretty physical themselves.”

Schonert then posted a picture of the wound on Instagram and added: “A little sore and frustrated but got a win and a new scar!”
