DIRECTOR of rugby Stuart Hooper felt both teams had pushed the pendulum the other way after Bath edged a 22-21 win at Warriors.

Worcester bounced back from conceding an early try to lead 13-10 at the break and warranted a greater margin thanks to a forceful display against the wind.

However, Bath recovered and should have added to the two second-half tries they scored before surviving Chris Pennell’s last-ditch attempt to kick for victory from his own half.

REACTION: Warriors "did enough to win the game"

AS IT HAPPENED: Warriors 21 Bath 22

On which side had influenced the turnaround most, Hooper said: “It was probably a bit of both but that’s rugby.

“I am always going to credit our boys because I see how much work they put in but Worcester will be looking at things they could have done differently in the second half, I am sure.

“Interestingly, both teams probably played a bit better when they were into the wind.

“The mindset to actually get off the floor, work and put yourself in the position to carry is slightly different.

“I thought we played well in the second half, we pressurised them and came up with the scores.”

Hooper revealed he had been unhappy with the opening 40 minutes with a few home truths told in the Bath dressing room at half-time.

“I thought we were off in the first half,” said Hooper.

"We weren’t where we needed to be tactically or from an effort point of view and we talked about that at half-time, we were very clear about that.

“Credit to the boys, I am very proud of the effort they put in the second half and their application to get us back in the game and then score those couple of tries which got us the win.

“It could be (down to) a number of things.

“We scored early, perhaps we thought the wind would do more for us than it did and we didn’t get the ball off the field enough to pressure their lineout.

“We made it more of a contest than it needed to be in the first half but then in the second half we rolled up our sleeves and really worked for it.”
