WORCESTER Warriors have signed Wales international tighthead prop Scott Andrews on loan from Cardiff Blues for the remainder of the season.

Andrews, 31, won 14 caps between 2011 and 2014 and will provide experienced cover will provide experienced cover for Conor Carey, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season by a bicep injury.

Warriors have also loaned another tighthead, Joe Morris, to Jersey Reds where he will gain valuable senior experience to help his development.

Morris will join the Channel Islanders ahead of their next Greene IPA Championship match against Coventry on May 15.

Morris will become the fourth player on loan with Jersey joining Scott van Breda, Matti Williams and James Scott who have all featured for them in recent Championship matches.

“With Conor’s injury and Joe going on loan to Jersey we only have two tightheads at the moment so we need injury cover,” said Warriors Head Coach Jonathan Thomas.

“Scott has got huge experience both for Cardiff Blues and for Wales. He had a short loan spell at Bath four years ago so he has had a taste of the Premiership before.

“He’s an outstanding rugby player and he will provide excellent cover for us between now and the end of the season.”

Andrews played club rugby for Pontypridd and Glamorgan Wanderers before he made his Cardiff Blues debut in 2009.

He was a Grand Slam winner with Wales in 2013, a European Challenge Cup winner with his region in 2018 and has now made 189 appearances for them.
