IN the second of his pieces interviewing his teammates, Worcestershire batsman Ollie Westbury gave readers the lowdown on another colleauge, this time, Charlie Morris was in the firing line.

He said: "After to speaking to Jack Haynes earlier this week, I thought that next I’d chat to a more senior member of the squad. Step forward Charles Andrew John Morris, who is perhaps one of the nicest and most likeable blokes I’ve had the fortune to meet.

"I think dedicated and hardworking are fairly accurate representations of what Moz is like. If you combine him as an individual and his work ethic then you can’t help but be delighted for him when he achieves success. I personally remember being buzzing for him last year when he achieved match figures of 12 for 93 in the first game of the season.

"Away from cricket he keeps himself busy by completing ‘jobs.’ If we ever finish training in a morning, Charlie will usually have ‘jobs’ lined up the following afternoon. One of Charlie’s most amusing anecdotes would be the time he told his wife Sophie that he was training at the ground, when in fact, he’d set up Battlefield (Play Station 4 game) on the large screen TV in the changing room.

"I think these so called ‘training sessions’ went on for a couple of weeks until Coxy (wicketkeeper Ben Cox) bumped into Sophie in town.

"From reports I believe the conversation went somewhere along the lines of “I bet you’re not seeing much of Charlie at the moment because he’s always playing battlefield in the changing room!’

"In Coxy’s defence how was he supposed to know what stunt Charles was trying pull. I can’t imagine that this went down too well in the Morris household and I can only assume that Moz was trying to get some much-needed respite from his ‘jobs.’

"I think it would be rude of me not to mention his maiden first class 50 against Australia last summer. Simply because when I asked him about, it his comments were quite amusing.

"Charlie works very hard on his batting. When he came to the crease that day, Alex Milton was his partner, who compiled a very accomplished 80 odd. According to Charlie he said to Milts “One day we’ll have a beer to reminisce about this.” I think that was Moz’s way of saying he wasn’t looking forward to facing his first delivery from Josh Hazelwood. Nonetheless, he battled through the over and when he saw Starc loosening up at the other end he said to Milts “He wont be much quicker will he?”.

"Typical of his attitude and guts, he battled through to reach his maiden first class 50. What a man."
