With rising costs of living expenses and living post pandemic, there is a bigger need than ever to support the community and that is exactly what the newly planted Windmill Church in Compton is all about.

Based on Christian principles, Windmill Church first opened its doors in Finchfield near Wolverhampton in 2011 and has grown from strength to strength, so much so that it pretty much outgrew its current building, and in 2022 decided to plant a brand-new church in Compton about 2 miles away.

An unused building was sourced, which was previously a boy's club but had fallen into disrepair.

Spending approximately £450,000 with the help of grants and support from its members, the building is now fully functional.

Senior leader Andrew Hodson from Stourbridge who was heavily involved in the plant said ”I’m really proud of what has been achieved here at Compton and how God has touched peoples lives and given the desire to serve. So many people are giving up their time to volunteer in the café or the toddler group and its by demonstrating our faith practically that we can reach out to the community”

Windmill has several community-based events throughout the week living out their mission statement which is ‘Continually building discipleship communities’ and their core values of Welcome, Well being and Worship.

They offer a weekly toddler group, a coffee hub, a youth discipleship group aimed at teenagers, and a weekly well-being walk amongst other things.

They also offer group huddles for those interested in exploring the Christian faith.

Alison Giles-Barrett who attends Windmill says “Windmill is a breath of fresh air. Everybody is so friendly and there is always something going on that I can get to if I want company”
