STOURBRIDGE band Isolated Atoms are celebrating after legendary Joy Division and New Order guitarist Peter Hook agreed to produce their next single.
The band will be performing in front of a celebrity-packed audience on Saturday August 22 at London’s Electrowerkz after a whirlwind summer which has seen their stock rise in the music industry.
The band formed in February 2008 with Grant Leon Ashman on vocals, Mark Neat on guitars, Jake Osei-Tutu on drums and David Davies on synth/bass.
The groups are heavily influenced by the groundbreaking electro and rock groups of the late 1970s early 1980s including New Order and Depeche Mode.
And the name Isolated Atoms derives from Joy Division’s track Isolation on the band’s 1980 album Closer, which was their last before the suicide of singer and songwriter Ian Curtis.
All of which makes Peter Hook’s backing of the band after hearing a demo a massive boost in Isolated Atom’s charge on the charts.
The band’s co-manager, Jon Brooks, from The Charlatans, met the Manchester based guitar legend ‘Hooky’.
He said: “Just as the guys thought the year couldn’t get much better, the legendary Weekender Records nabbed them to release their debut single with New Order’s Peter Hook declaring himself a huge fan.”
He added: “Hooky requested demos and is now confirmed to produce their next single.
“It has been an amazing year, they made an EP of demos available at the start of 2009 which saw them recording a live session for BBC radio and even found a fan in Alan McGee having played a storming set at his Death Disco night in London.”
He added: “I am delighted to say Isolated Atoms look set to become one of the success stories of 2009.”
