Anna Kendrick has revealed she has no plans to launch a music career.

The former Broadway star, who has shown off her singing skills in films such as Pitch Perfect, Into The Woods and The Last Five Years, said she has no aspirations to follow in the footsteps of fellow actresses Scarlett Johansson, Zooey Deschanel, Lindsay Lohan and Juliette Lewis.

Her song Cups (When I’m Gone), which featured in Pitch Perfect, hit the singles charts when it was released in 2013.

“No, no, it’s not for me. I think braver men than I have tried and failed to enter the pop music world so it’s not for me,” she said.

Anna, who reprises her role as a cappella group leader Beca Mitchell in Pitch Perfect 2, admitted to having doubts before signing on for the sequel.

“People were asking if I was going to do a sequel before the sequel was in motion, and I was going, ‘I don’t think they’re making one, I don’t think it’s happening’. I was nervous about undoing any of the charm of the first movie, and the clincher for me was when everybody in the cast was signed on,” she explained.

“Obviously I couldn’t miss out on that! It was really about making sure we were all on board together.”

The 29-year-old actress admitted one of the electronic music mash-up sequences was the most challenging to sing in the second film.

“The toughest song and the most fun is the number we do in the middle of the movie in the gold jumpsuits and tearing things apart, because we were trying to imitate this electronic sound,” she said.

“Learning the backing parts about the vocal instrumentation for electronica meant that I was walking around my house in headphones and sounding like a lunatic. It was actually good fun once I had it down, it was really fun to do but learning it was a beast.”

And Anna revealed the cast didn’t sing much on set.

“We sing enough together,” she said.

“Weirdly I just finished a film with Craig Robinson and we sang more together than any of the Pitch Perfect girls. I thought it was odd because I did a movie with 10 girls and we sang less than I did with this enormous 6’4″ man,” Anna added.

Pitch Perfect 2 opens in cinemas on May 15.
