Ex-EastEnders actress Louisa Lytton became the first contestant to be ski-booted out of The Jump as the latest series of the reality show got under way.
It was a double disaster for the TV star as she came bottom of the leaderboard in the Air Jump having been slowest in the skeleton race.
Earlier in the show – hosted by Davina McCall – the contestants had been paired off against each other to face the skeleton, which saw them slide down a track at speeds of almost 100kmph.
Sprinter Linford Christie, former Westlife star Brian McFadden, gymnast Beth Tweddle, Made In Chelsea’s Mark-Francis Vandelli, Holby City actress Tina Hobley and ex-Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding all made it through the first round.
While many of the celebrities said they hated the challenge, in which some bashed against the sides of the track, Beth was awarded a mini bell and named skeleton champion 2016, saying: “I just enjoyed it from the first time I did it”.
Losers James “Arg” Argent from The Only Way Is Essex, US actor Dean Cain, who played Superman on the small screen, former EastEnders actor Sid Owen, socialite Tamara Beckwith, Louisa and Olympian Rebecca Adlington faced the Air Jump.
Louisa came last as they battled it out to get as much height as possible by jumping off the 4.5 metre kicker and landing into a giant airbag. During this event swimmer Rebecca dislocated her shoulder.
The series will see the celebrities tackle various winter sport-related activities each week.
The overall winner is awarded the Cowbell Trophy, currently held by Towie star Joey Essex who won last year’s series.
